Heart Health and Exercise: The Importance of Movement for a Healthy Heart

Regular physical activity strengthens the heart muscle and improves blood pumping efficiency. At least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise per week (brisk walking, swimming, cycling) is the recommended minimum for cardiovascular health. Regular exercise also lowers blood pressure, reduces bad cholesterol, and increases good cholesterol.

The benefits of exercise on heart health are not only physiological. Regular movement reduces stress hormones, improves sleep quality, and aids in weight management. However, before starting any exercise program, consulting a doctor is essential.

Regular exercise performed 3-5 days per week can reduce heart attack risk by 30-40%. Remember that the best exercise is the one you can do regularly.
